Baldwin Legal Investigations, Inc. is conducting an independent investigation in an attempt to verify the facts in the state’s case concerning Collis McCaster, who admitted to killing 60-year old Mildred Jackson Morris and attempting to burn her house down. McCaster was charged with capital murder, first degree arson and first degree sexual abuse.
Family members said McCaster was a homeless man whom Morris would help out, sometimes feeding him and allowing him to stay in her home. McCaster is back behind bars awaiting trial after violating his probation. Less than six hours after the fire, he was arrested in Atmore on an outstanding felony warrant from Conecuh County, AL, related to a stolen debit card. that arrest violated his probation in Conecuh County.
